Airport Transportation
Accra Kotoka International Airport is a 30-minute journey from Accra Central.
While it is possible to use public transport to get to the central city, most tourists opt to use a taxi or shuttle.
Taxis are available 24 hours a day from the airport, and both Uber and Bolt service Accra.
The local taxis from the airport don’t have a taximeter, so make sure to negotiate a price before leaving. Accra is a large city, so the price and ride time will depend on your destination and traffic.
On average this journey should take 30 minutes. If you’d prefer a shuttle, private companies that serve the airport offer private shuttle rentals.
These air-conditioned cars or mini buses are ordered by request and are reasonably priced.
It’s possible to rent a car at Accra International Airport, as several car rental companies operate from within.
They can provide you with a vehicle 24 hours a day, but be warned – Accra’s roads are notoriously busy! We recommend getting an Uber or Bolt back to the airport.
They’re the easiest to book with minimal stress involved – something you want to avoid when you’re flying!
Make sure to speak with your Airbnb host before making any travel plans from the airport. They can tell you the best and most efficient mode of transportation to their property.

- When budgeting, ensure you’re looking at the full fee for the listing. The full Airbnb fee includes a cleaning fee, service fee, and local taxes.
- Many other superhosts in Accra offer five-star accommodations if these properties are unavailable.
- There are no city tax requirements in Accra. Don’t expect to pay extra cash to your host on top of the total price of your Airbnb reservation.
- Always read the reviews! These will give you an insight into a property that you can’t get just from pictures.
- Be a good guest, and remember to leave a review yourself! Airbnb hosts need reviews to know what they’re doing right and what could be done better. Most hosts are very appreciative when you let them know your honest opinion, even if you have some constructive criticism.
